Rogers Stirk Harbour + Partners and George Wimpey Pioneer Homes for the Future

The first houses at Oxley Woods, Milton Keynes were unveiled on 2 May 2007. George Wimpey and Rogers Stirk Harbour + Partners (RSHP), teamed up with the aim of building high-quality homes to a number of different quality standards – including ‘EcoHomes’ and ‘Building for Life’ – at a construction cost of £60,000, in a number of designated cities across the UK.  A total of 145 properties are planned for the site – of which 19 have already been built. The homes are constructed from sustainable materials and employ unique features including an ‘EcoHat’ – allowing hot air to be re-used to optimise energy consumption and provide passive solar water heating – as well as layouts which optimise space and light.
