Major Cambridge Regeneration Proposal gets Go-ahead
RSHP’s masterplan for the Station Road area in Cambridge – cb1 – was recently approved by the City Council’s planning committee. The vision for the regeneration of this area from developer Ashwell will deliver a significant new quarter for a part of Cambridge which has been in need of regeneration for some years.
The RSHP masterplan – covering a 26-acre site – will create a gateway and transport interchange for the city including more than 53,000 sq m of office floor space, 331 residential units, accommodation for 1,250 Anglia Ruskin University students, 5,255 m² of retail space, a hotel, polyclinic, art workshop, gym and nursery. The development will also provide a new transport interchange and a remodelled station square.
The approval follows a two-year period of detailed public consultation and the scheme will now be taken forward to detailed design stage with a series of planning applications being made in due course.
